Welcome to the Joe Hard Fly Tying and Bait Company

Hi my name is Daryn Smith, I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I hold a commercial marine worm harvesting licence and am registered as a commercial fisherman. I have been harvesting and selling marine worms for 20 years. I am looking into selling other fresh and saltwater fishing baits at the moment.

I was born In Ontario, Canada and tied my first fly there as a boy. I spent a lot of time in a canoe fishing for Pike, Musky, Walleye, Bass, Trout and Panfish in the North Bay, Bancroft and Peterborough area's. I now live within walking distance of a tidal river that has Atlantic Salmon, Shad, Carp, Speckled Trout, Resident Brown and Sea Trout. The Bay of Fundy and Minas Basin has Flounder, Mackerel,  Bluefish, Shad, Stripped Bass, Sturgeon, Halibut, Sharks and other species and is just a few minutes drive away.

For about ten years I have been tying flies on a daily basis as a hobby and to keep my fly boxes full. I also sell them locally and have sold them all over Canada. On Dec, 9th 2005 I registered as a small business. Custom orders is my preferred way to sell flies. That way you get what you want, and not what you dont. If there is a fly you like but dont see let me know.

I will always be adding new flies, and information concerning fly fishing, fly tying, the marine worm industry and other baits. Thanks for visiting my site, have a break, stop by and sign the guest book.

Grey Squirel Spey

A fly I modifyied from a Montreal Pattern. Locally it is know as a grey squirel, it is a wet fly with body of clarret, and a wing of babger or squirel. Here I turned the pattern into a spey.
